Developer's notes IV. Presets for screen recording in Android 4.4 KitKat

One of the most useful Android 4.4 features for me is screen recording. This allows us to record videos of live wallpapers and upload them to YouTube. Before this we had to record videos either with camcorder (looks quite blurry) or from emulator (low-res and a bit laggy). So right after updating my Nexus 7 (1st gen) and Nexus 10 to Android KitKat I've decided to try this feature out.

Developer's notes III. Simple DOF effect with OpenGL ES 2.0

Idea came from some video which was inspired by design of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, namely design elements with broken glass shards. In a few days we've completed final vision of scene and implemented first version of live wallpaper in one weekend. As result of this work we proudly present Shattered Glass 3D Live Wallpaper . In this article we will explain rendering techniques used in creation of this live wallpaper.

Android KitKat 3D Live Wallpaper

We are glad to introduce you our new live wallpaper - 'Android KitKat 3D' which is dedicated to the upcoming version of Android 4.4. As usual, the whole picture is fully 3D, and it has the following features:    - Android figure can either stand or lay;    - figure can be bitten representing your battery level;    - customizable background colors and gradients. It is completely free and ad-free, go get it on Google Play .

Developer's notes II. ETC2 texture compression in OpenGL ES 3.0

The most recent Android version 4.3 has been released a few weeks ago. Even long before final release there has been a few leaked ROMs around - first for Samsung Galaxy S4, and then for Nexus 4. In both of these ROMs I've found libraries for OpenGL ES 3.0 which was extremely good news - rumors about March demo of OpenGL ES 3.0 on HTC One working on native libraries were true. As well as rumors for support of Bluetooth Low Energy were true, too. So after receiving OTA updates on Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 I've decided to try this goodness out. (Nexus 7 received update with almost one week delay but I didn't care about this, I'll explain later why).

Shattered Glass 3D Live Wallpaper

Today we've released new live wallpaper - Shattered Glass 3D. This app represents a congestion of broken glass shards suspended in the void. Glass particles slowly spin and follow your finger gestures and home screen changes. You can get app on Google Play , it is completely free.

Bamboo Forest 3D Live Wallpaper

This live wallpaper brings a scene of serene bamboo forest to your Android devices. Wind runs in the top of bamboo trees and gently sways ground vegetation. Occasional butterflies fly through warm sun rays, casting flickering shadows on the ground. The view rotates reacting to your gestures and home screen changes, revealing the different angles of beautiful forest. In full version you can customize a whole lot of objects in live wallpaper, like  ground and grass, color of bamboo plants, butterflies or fireflies, path and railings, stone lanterns, falling leaves, sun rays, dust particles etc. Free version has less customization options.

3D Car Live Wallpaper

This newly released live wallpaper really makes home screen of your device alive and moving. With 3D Car Live Wallpaper you can feel a freedom of driving a highway in a legendary sports car. Mostly straight road slightly twists between hills, and you can watch as car passes by trees and bushes. There are plenty of customization options: car color, rims color, camera rotation settings. You can change even license plate number of a car to any custom text. As usual, app has two editions: free with limited customization and full with lots of settings to tune scene for your taste. Free version has one car and one landscape type, and full live wallpaper offers three great cars and four landscapes for any season, each with own weather effects.

Lantern Festival updated

Both free and full versions of Lantern Festival live wallpapers received fixes for visual glitches on certain devices. Flickering graphics is fixed for such devices as Samsung Galaxy S, Google Nexus 10 and almost all Motorola Droid phones lineup. You can get free and full versions on Google Play.
